Tide pitching ace KELSI DUNNE hurled a complete game as ALABAMA defeated LSU 5-4 in Fayetteville, Arkansas Saturday night to win the 2010 SEC SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT. Dunne got the win in all three games for the tide including the championship game VS LSU, a game in which she pitched the last five innings contending with a horrific blister on the middle finger of her pitching hand. Tide left fielder JAZ LUNCEFORD belted a game-winning solo homer in the bottom of the fifth to eventually give bama the 5-4 win. The ALABAMA SOFTBALL TEAM previously captured the 2010 SEC regular season title last week and by doing so the tide all but locked up a top 8 national seed. Many wondered what the psyche or attitude of the team would be given that they were virtually just playing for pride considering they had already achieved their goal of grabbing a top 8 seed meaning the tide would be at home(provided they advanced) until THE COLLEGE WORLD SERIES... BAMA opened up with a 9-0 run-rule win over the host team in the tournament the ARKANSAS RAZORBACKS on Thursday.
Friday THE CRIMSON TIDE would hold on to win 4-3 against rival Tennessee. The game became in doubt when freshman phenom second baseman Kayla Braud made a throwing error that led to two runs for the Vols. The tide would go on to win after a walk-off home run by Shortstop Whitney Larsen, that was technically the 2nd consecutive walk-off winning hit for Larsen as she hit the grand slam in the 5th inning in the previous contest VS Arkansas.
